Job summary

JobAps is seeking an ADA Specialist (Human Resources Specialist) in Hartford, CT. The role supports state employees through the accommodation process under ADA and PWFA, managing a caseload and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and policies.

The position requires independent and collaborative work with HR teams, providing guidance, documenting interactions, and coordinating with Leave entitlements and related HR processes. Hybrid in-office/telework availability is offered.

Qualifications

• Seven years of professional experience in human resources management or equal employment opportunity/affirmative action or labor relations management.
• One year of the general experience at the junior working level in HR management or related area.
• College training may substitute for part of the experience with specific hour-for-hour credit; a Bachelor's degree can substitute for up to four years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage intake of accommodation requests, evaluate eligibility and issue notices/determinations.
• Review medical documentation thoroughly and follow up when clarification is needed.
• Maintain clear, comprehensive documentation throughout the accommodation process.
• Partner with agency HR partners to evaluate potential accommodations.
• Provide guidance on interaction of leave entitlements with ADA requirements.
• Ensure compliance with state/federal regulations, HR policies, and CBAs.
• Communicate with employees and management to foster cooperative relationships.
• Analyze issues and recommend appropriate actions with supervisor input.
