Job summary

BayCare is seeking an Acute Speech Therapist to join our pool/PRN program at South Florida Baptist Hospital, part of the BayCare Health System. You will perform comprehensive evaluations, design individualized therapy plans, and work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes in an acute care setting.

The role requires a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology, Florida licensure and CCC-SLP, with BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
• Florida State License in Speech-Language Pathology required.
• CCC-SLP from ASHA required.
• BLS Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients’ speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and patient goals.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other rehabilitation professionals to ensure coordinated care.
• Educate patients and families on therapy goals, progress, and strategies for continued recovery.
• Document patient progress and maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to discharge planning.
• Provide mentorship and clinical guidance to students and CFY candidates as needed.

Acute Speech Therapist Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

Required:

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
• Florida State License in Speech-Language Pathology
• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

Preferred:

• 1+ year of clinical experience in an inpatient or acute care setting
• Experience with modified barium swallow studies and dysphagia management
