Job summary

BayCare Health System in Tampa, FL seeks an Acute Care Speech Therapist for Pool/PRN roles at St. Joseph’s Hospital. You will assess and treat speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, voice, and swallowing disorders in medically complex patients.

Responsibilities include developing treatment plans, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, documenting progress, and participating in rounds. Requires Master's in Speech Therapy and CCC-SLP, BLS, and state license; Doctorate preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech Therapy required.
• CCC-SLP credential and licensure to practice.
• BLS certification required.
• Doctorate in Speech Therapy preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive evaluations of speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, voice and swallowing function in medically complex patients.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address communication and swallowing disorders.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, dietitians and other healthcare providers.
• Document evaluations, progress notes and discharge summaries per hospital policies and regulatory standards.
• Provide patient and family education related to communication strategies, feeding precautions and recovery expectations.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and care planning.
• Perform MBSS and/or FEES, if credentialed.
• Adhere to infection control, safety and HIPAA policies.
• Stay current with clinical best practices and CE relevant to acute care SLP.

Acute Care Speech Therapist PoolResponsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive evaluations of speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, voice, and swallowing function in medically complex patients.

• Perform Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSS) and/or Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES), if credentialed.
• Adhere to infection control, safety, and HIPAA policies.
• Stay current with clinical best practices and continuing education relevant to acute care SLP.
