Job summary

BayCare Health System in Florida seeks an Acute Speech Therapist for our South Florida Baptist Hospital pool. This role supports patient-centered care across the rehab team and requires CCC-SLP certification, BLS, and a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

Qualifications

• CCC-SLP credential is required.
• BLS certification is required.
• Licensed as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
• Doctorate in Speech-Language Therapy preferred.
• Around 1 year of clinical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients’ speech, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing abilities.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and patient goals.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and rehab staff for coordinated care.
• Educate patients and families on goals, progress and strategies for recovery.
• Document progress and maintain clinical records per standards.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to discharge planning.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to students and CFY candidates.

BayCare is currently in search of our newest Acute Speech Therapist/Pool (PRN) who is passionate about providing outstanding customer service to our community. Since 1953, South Florida Baptist Hospital has been a trusted and loved hospital for all our community’s health and wellness needs. Our compassionate and caring team of experts, including nearly 800 team members and 250 physicians, work diligently to make sure that you receive high-quality care when you visit the hospital. Our new 204-bed replacement hospital that opened in the Spring of 2024 offers many more services than a standard community hospital, as we’re part of the BayCare family of health care facilities.

Acute Speech Therapist Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients’ speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities.

• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and patient goals.

• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other rehabilitation professionals to ensure coordinated care.

• Educate patients and families on therapy goals, progress, and strategies for continued recovery.

• Document patient progress and maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.

• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to discharge planning.

• Provide mentorship and clinical guidance to students and Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) candidates as needed

• CCC-SLP REQUIRED
