Job summary

St. Joseph’s South Hospital in Riverview, FL is seeking an Acute Care Speech Therapist to join the PRN pool. Provide high-quality rehabilitation services in an acute care setting, conducting evaluations and developing individualized treatment plans.

Collaborate with physicians, nurses and rehab colleagues to ensure coordinated care, educate patients and families, document progress, and participate in discharge planning. Requires Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology, FL license, CCC-SLP, and BLS.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
• Florida State License in Speech-Language Pathology.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients’ speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and patient goals.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other rehabilitation professionals to ensure coordinated care.
• Educate patients and families on therapy goals, progress, and strategies for continued recovery.
• Document patient progress and maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to discharge planning.
• Provide mentorship and clinical guidance to students and Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) candidates as needed.

Education

Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology

Florida State License in Speech-Language Pathology

Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
