Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Therapeutic Assistant to work under the Nurse Manager and a registered nurse to provide patient care as directed by the treatment plan. You will assist with admissions and discharges, monitor safety, and support daily living activities within a psychiatric unit.

The position requires TA I: HS diploma; TA II: BA or 1 year behavioral health experience, plus BLS within 2 weeks and TACT/First Aid within 6 months and annually thereafter.

Qualifications

• Therapeutic Assistant I: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Therapeutic Assistant II: Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field, or HS diploma with 1 year behavioral health experience.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 2 weeks of hire and maintained thereafter.
• Certification in TACT and First Aid within 6 months and annually thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under the direction of a registered nurse and treatment plan.
• Assist with patient admission and discharge processes.
• Monitor and promote safety within the therapeutic environment.
• Support activities of daily living for patients.
