Acute Care Medicine handles patients with a wide range of clinical issues, including blood dyscrasias, endocrine pathology, heart and renal failure, GI conditions, infectious diseases, asthma, and more. The unit provides advanced training for nurses to reach high levels of expertise, supported by a multidisciplinary team including case managers, social workers, physical therapists, dietitians, pharmacists, and physicians.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose: Provides direct patient care activities, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, within nursing standards.

Responsibilities

• Promote patient and family-centered care, educate on illness management, post-treatment care, and medication administration.
• Participate in activities promoting patient safety, quality, and compliance. Engage in professional development.
• Develop, implement, and document individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team, ensuring communication across care continuum.
• Assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, considering patient preferences, values, and cultural factors.
• This is a safety-sensitive position requiring constant alertness and safe work practices.
