Job Description

This position is 20 hours per week, with five 4-hour shifts. Shifts include:

• Monday-Thursday: 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM
• Friday: 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM
• Saturday/Sunday: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM or 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM

The Triage RN, Access role involves providing clinically expert virtual triage services, assessing patient complaints, and developing appropriate care advice based on evidence-based protocols. The role emphasizes excellent customer service, communication skills, and teamwork, serving as a liaison between patients and providers.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills, functioning effectively within a team that prioritizes patients.
• Establish positive first impressions and advocate for patients.
• Triage incoming calls and messages, prioritize and resolve issues, involving providers as needed.
• Develop and update individualized care plans based on patient needs.
• Ask key questions to assess clinical conditions and adjust approach accordingly.
• Document all communications in the electronic medical record.
• Schedule patient visits with providers as appropriate.
• Follow departmental triage protocols.
• Assist in scheduling and orientation of new staff, participate in quality improvement projects, and use effective service recovery skills.

Qualifications

Required:

• Graduate of an accredited RN program
• At least 2 years of ambulatory care experience
• Registered Nurse License issued by the State of Illinois
• Current AHA BLS Provider certification

Preferred:

• BSN degree
• Specialty certification upon eligibility
