Job summary

MercyOne Genesis DeWitt Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse to provide safe and effective care for acute medical and surgical patients. You will lead a nursing team, coordinate care, and ensure accurate documentation while embracing MercyOne’s mission and values.

The role requires an ADN with BLS; a BSN is preferred. Weekend coverage and a 12-hour day shift are part of the package, with opportunities for growth within MercyOne Health System.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing required.
• BSN preferred.
• Current Iowa RN license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• ACLS required if telemetry monitoring is used.
• Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months of hire.
• Strong math and critical thinking abilities.
• Proficient computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial patient assessment and data collection.
• Develop and implement outcome-based care plans with input from the care team.
• Coordinate and delegate nursing care within the unit.
• Ensure safe medication administration and patient education.
• Communicate with physicians, patients and family, and care team.
• Support discharge planning and patient transitions.
• Maintain clinical competence and accurate documentation.
• Monitor telemetry when applicable and respond to arrhythmias.
• Provide age-appropriate, evidence-based nursing care.
