Qualifications

• Associate or higher in respiratory care; AMA accredited program.
• 0–3 years acute care experience required; registry eligible.
• CRT required; RRT preferred where available.
• Active license to practice in District of Columbia.
• CPR (AHA/Red Cross) within 90 days; ACLS/NRP/PALS within a year.
• Knowledge of respiratory care equipment and procedures.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to department goals; follows policies and safety standards.
• Assesses patient needs and documents education requirements.
• Performs respiratory therapy treatments and equipment management.
• Includes oxygen, humidity, ventilators, bronchial hygiene, spirometry, blood gas analysis.
• Reviews EMR and physician orders; communicates findings.
• Responds to CPR and maintains airway using appropriate devices.
• Optimizes workflow and interdepartmental processes.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
