Job summary

University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City seeks an AM Pharmacy Technician, certified or trainee, to work in Acute Care, Central Pharmacy. The role operates under pharmacist supervision with 8-hour shifts from 6:00 am to 3:30 pm and alternating weekends.

Duties include inventory management, dispensing support, and medication distribution in patient care areas. Qualified applicants will be registered or trainee, high school diploma, and completion of an accredited technician program;

Qualifications

• Registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy at time of hire.
• National certification through PTCB or NHA and maintain certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Either two years of post-high school science experience/education or completion of an accredited technician program.

Responsibilities

• Perform inventory maintenance in satellites and dispensing areas.
• Review medication inventory for expired items.
• Maintain inventory levels per par levels.
• Prepare labels and medication doses for inpatient use and document activities.
• Deliver medications to patient care areas and retrieve unused meds.
• Ensure security of medications in patient care areas and controlled substances.
