Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician/ PCA for acute care at The Jewish Hospital. The role involves assisting with basic patient care, monitoring vital signs, and providing nutrition and personal care under RN supervision.

Candidate will support with mobility, documentation, and inter-department hand-offs, ensuring compassionate care and high-quality customer service for patients and families. BLS certification is preferred or must be obtained prior to direct patient care.

Qualifications

• Basic patient care including vital signs, hygiene and mobility support.
• Experience in acute care, physician office, home health, or long-term care preferred.
• BLS certification preferred or obtainable before direct patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care and comfort and assist with activities of daily living.
• Report changes to nurses and maintain clear communication.
• Deliver high-quality customer service to patients, families, and staff.
• Document patient care accurately and timely in the chart.
• Assist with hand-offs and important departmental information at shift changes.
• Perform delegated tasks after training and competency validation.
• Assist with safe patient transfers and encourage independence.
• Tailor care to patient interests and needs.
