Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Surgical Telemetry Unit at The Jewish Hospital. The role supports RN staff, sanitizes rooms, monitors vital signs and assists patients with basic needs such as feeding and grooming while maintaining compassionate care.

QUALIFICATIONS include recent acute care experience, BLS preferred, and completion of a nursing aide program or equivalent with clinical rotations.

Qualifications

• Recent experience in acute care or hospital settings.
• BLS certification preferred and must be obtained from an approved source before direct patient care.
• Completion of nursing aide training program or STNA/CNA or equivalent, or a nursing program with clinical rotations.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care including comfort, vital signs, personal care and mobility assistance.
• Act as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
• Provide high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors and employees.
• Document care accurately and timely in the patient record.
• Participate in hand-off reports for arrival and departure.
• Perform delegated tasks once competency is validated.
• Mobilize patients using safe transfer techniques and promote independence.
• Encourage patients to perform tasks independently when possible.
• Individualize care based on patient needs and preferences.
