Job summary

UPMC Williamsport is seeking a full-time Patient Care Technician for the 4 East Acute Care Department. This role offers 36 hours per week, with day shifts from 7a to 7p and a rotating 7p-7a schedule, including every other weekend and holidays.

The PCT will perform core nursing assistant tasks, assist with ADLs, monitor vitals, perform point-of-care testing, phlebotomy, and support the RN and healthcare team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of UPMC patient care technician class.
• eRecord training completed or in progress.
• Enrollment in PT/OT/PA program or related healthcare training.
• Bachelor’s degree in health sciences preferred.
• EMT or Paramedic program enrolled preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care including assisting with procedures and activities of daily living.
• Assists with nursing core responsibilities and at least four additional tasks (phlebotomy, 12-lead EKG, simple dressing, Foley care, etc.).
• Reports equipment malfunctions and communicates with other departments; supports unit activities.
• Receives feedback and seeks learning opportunities; assists in planning priorities.
• Provides patient/family instruction underRN direction; may apply and remove restraints as needed.
• Communicates effectively with health care team; promotes safety and respectful relationships.
• Adheres to policies; supports department projects and quality initiatives.
• Documents in medical records; performs clerical tasks as needed.
• Achieves competency in advanced skills as required (phlebotomy, IV removal, etc.).

Education

High school diploma or GED

Completion of UPMC patient care technician class

Completion of eRecord training
