Job summary

UPMC in Harrisburg is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support patient care, assist with activities of daily living, and participate in therapies under RN supervision.

The role includes nursing assistant tasks such as blood glucose checks, vitals, I&O, specimen collection, Foley care, and at least four additional duties like phlebotomy, 12-lead EKG, or IV catheter removal, all while maintaining safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Provides patient care including assisting with patient procedures and activities of daily living.
• Performs nursing assistant tasks (blood glucose, weights, vital signs, I&O, specimen collections and Foley care) and at least four identified tasks: phlebotomy, 12-lead EKG, simple dressing, Foley catheter removal, point of care testing, bladder scan, straight catheter, or IV catheter removal.
• Communicates effectively with the health care team; adheres to safety policies; documents in the medical record; participates in quality initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care including assisting with patient procedures and activities of daily living.
• Assists with physical, respiratory and cardiopulmonary therapies; reports changes in patient status to RN.
• Performs core nursing assistant duties (blood glucose, weights, vital signs, I&O, specimen collections, Foley care).
• Maintains professional relationships and supports unit operations and safety policies.
