Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy course completion required or preferred.
• Graduate of Phlebotomy Course; if not completed, one year of medical laboratory experience or college coursework in biological/chemical sciences required.

Responsibilities

• Process specimens for the section; prepare blood smears and body fluid slides; centrifuge specimens; streak microbiology plates; prepare specimens for transport to reference labs.
• Independently perform specimen processing and testing including moderate complexity testing.
• Set up instruments and perform basic equipment maintenance; perform basic quality control as instructed.
• Perform clerical duties such as data entry, filing, and inventory of supplies; answer phones and communicate verified test results.
• May perform phlebotomy, point-of-care and waived testing as designated.
• Work in accordance with laboratory regulatory standards.
