Job summary

Figure, an AI robotics company in San Jose, is seeking a Systems Integration Engineer focused on actuators for its humanoid robotics program. You will work across mechanical, electrical, controls, and software teams to deploy robust actuation systems.

You will calibrate, validate, and tune real-time actuation performance, develop diagnostics, and bring up prototypes. Applicants should have strong Matlab/Python skills and a track record in electromechanical systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with robotic or electromechanical actuation, manipulation or integration.
• Matlab and Python for testing infrastructure, data analysis and control engineering.
• Experience integrating sensors and tuning motion system controllers.
• Strong understanding of mechanics, kinematics, controls, dynamics and sensor tech.
• Familiarity with Linux-based development and reading C++.
• Proficiency with validation instrumentation and system-level debugging.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on system-level deployment of actuators within the humanoid robot, including interfaces and performance.
• Define calibration strategies and end-of-line test plans for actuation subsystems.
• Incorporate sensing and feedback systems into real-time control architectures.
• Develop real-time diagnostic algorithms for fall-back strategies.
• Debug and analyze performance; perform hands-on debugging of mechanical, electrical and software integration issues.
• Tune controllers; conduct system identification and data analysis to characterize actuation performance.
• Design validation test plans; bring up prototypes and first articles.
• Develop automation and tooling; build dashboards and automated test rigs.
