Job summary

National Life Group is seeking an Associate Actuary to analyze and report reserves and other actuarial items for Indexed Universal Life products. You will monitor policyholder behavior and profitability, provide actuarial support for projects, and navigate GAAP and statutory valuation requirements.

The role requires knowledge of PBR, experience in life insurance actuarial processes, and strong collaboration with auditors, regulators, and internal teams.

Qualifications

• FSA designation from SOA or Career ASA with extensive life insurance experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related field.
• At least 5 years of actuarial experience in actuarial modeling or valuation & financial reporting.
• Proficiency in actuarial modeling software (PolySystems, MG-ALFA, GGY-AXIS).
• Proficient with database tools (SQL, DataBricks, MS Access).
• Comprehensive understanding of actuarial valuation requirements and techniques.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Proactive attitude towards continuous improvement and challenging norms.

Responsibilities

• Perform valuation on Life blocks focusing on Principle-Based Reserves (PBR).
• Conduct experience studies, recommend assumption updates, and quantify impacts for PBR.
• Analyze business trends and reserve movements.
• Update annual PBR report and communicate with external auditors/regulators.
• Support production and oversight of reserves and actuarial reporting (Statutory, GAAP, Tax).
• Communicate GAAP-related analyses to financial reporting stakeholders (FAS97, FAS133).
• Collaborate with Pricing, FP&A, Inforce, Modeling Center of Excellence, and Tax teams.
