Job summary

National Life Group seeks a technically strong actuarial professional to design, implement, and support life and annuity products. You will oversee actuarial components across policy administration, illustration, and ancillary systems, balancing product knowledge with sound judgement to ensure accurate, timely deployments.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage testing, training, and process improvements while maintaining high standards of accuracy and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 6 - 10 years of experience in a systems, systems support, product implementation, or related role in the financial services industry.
• Demonstrated understanding of life and/or annuity product mechanics and calculations.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, build effective relationships and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including very strong Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, validate, and support actuarial components for life insurance and annuity products across policy administration, illustration, and ancillary systems.
• Coordinate work across projects, manage testing timelines and deliverables, and assist management with roadmap planning.
• Oversee testing and validation activities, develop test strategies, plans, tools and documentation for product rates, calculations, values, and system behavior.
• Provide training and guidance to staff to increase product, systems, and testing knowledge.
• Evaluate opportunities to improve or automate work with focus on accuracy and efficiency.
• Build cross-functional partnerships and clearly communicate complex calculations and solutions to technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Serve as SME in product setup, policy mechanics, calculations, and systems behavior in primary systems.
