Job summary

Curative in Austin, TX is seeking an Actuary to own pricing of Curative’s ASO/self-funded product line, with primary focus on employer stop loss pricing.

You will own the actuarial mechanics end to end: manual and experience rating, credibility, trend, risk load and retention build-up, attachment-point and corridor structures, monthly IBNP valuation of the stop loss layer, and the state rate filings that support the product.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, finance, economics, business, computer science or related field.
• Three or more years of health actuarial experience, including pricing and reserving employer stop loss and ASO business.
• ASA designation required; FSA/MAAA preferred. US qualification standards for rate filings preferred.
• Experience with stop loss rate filings and regulator communications is a plus.
• Knowledge of SQL; Python or R for data analysis is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own stop loss pricing for self-funded ASO groups, both specific and aggregate.
• Maintain and enhance pricing methodology including trend, credibility, and group-size risk load.
• Price new and renewal quotes; explain rate rationales to Underwriting and Sales.
• Manage end-to-end pricing models; update inputs, network blends, and rider pricing.
• Conduct experience studies; evaluate large claims and credibility.
• Support state rate filings, certifications, and regulatory compliance.
• Mentor junior actuarial staff and provide technical review.
