Curative is reimagining health insurance with straightforward pricing and $0 out-of-pocket costs. We seek a Junior Actuary to support pricing and portfolio strategy, combining traditional actuarial work with operational ownership. You will analyze data, assist with pricing, and collaborate with Sales, Account Management, Underwriting, and Operations to drive growth.

This role is based in Austin, TX, offering hands-on experience for a recent college graduate eager to start an actuarial career.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, business, computer science or related degree
• Experience with Excel
• Experience in health insurance industry, data analysis or data management a plus
• Knowledge of SQL and relational databases a plus
• Progress towards ASA designation; some exams passed preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist with pricing strategies to support growth and profitability goals
• Collaborate with senior actuaries to refine underwriting guidelines and procedures
• Analyze Curative data (claims, member interactions) to support pricing and strategy decisions
• Help in calculating group rates for new business and renewals based on experience, industry, location, and demographics
• Contribute to preparation of executive reports on actuarial and financial metrics
• Maintain communication with internal teams to support actuarial projects and initiatives
• Support day-to-day actuarial tasks and assist with ad-hoc analysis
• Assist on high-priority underwriting requests (peer review, rate build-up troubleshooting)
• Perform other projects and duties as required
