Job summary

Sentry Insurance is seeking an Actuarial Internship candidate to gain hands-on experience with mentorship and leadership exposure. You will work on actuarial tasks and attend diverse social events to network across divisions.

Location options include Madison or Stevens Point, WI with a hybrid schedule—home on Mondays and Fridays, in-office Tue–Thu—plus provided equipment and housing/parking support where applicable.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Mathematics, Statistics or related field.
• Minimum GPA 3.0; at least one actuarial exam completed preferred.
• Expected graduation December 2027 through May 2029.

• Compile and categorize data.
• Complete assignments pertaining to rate adequacy monitoring.
• Manage corporate insurance risks.
• Perform basic statistical analyses.

Job description

In this internship, you'll gain hands‑on experience and work with a mentor to learn all about the Actuarial role and network with leadership at social events.

This position will have the opportunity to intern in either our Madison or Stevens Point, WI office location.

What You'll Do

Actuary interns are given the opportunity to learn the basics of actuarial functions through exposure to a broad range of insurance products and actuarial methodologies in addition to participating in project work that takes place throughout the internship.

• Compile and categorize data
• Complete assignments which pertain to monitoring rate adequacy
• Manage corporate insurance risks
• Perform basic statistical analysis
• Evaluate loss and expense reserves
• Become familiar with company operations, systems, and actuarial methodologies

What it Takes

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Mathematics, Statistics or related field preferred
• At least one actuarial exam complete is preferred
• Obtain a minimum in‑major GPA of 3.0
• Expected graduation date of December 2027 through May 2029
• Sentry does not offer employment in this position to holders of F‑1, J‑1, and H‑1 Visas for the purpose of obtaining practical experience
