Job summary

Sentry Insurance is looking for an Actuary Intern to gain hands-on experience with a mentor guiding you through actuary concepts and leadership networking events. The role blends office collaboration with remote days, offering exposure to multiple actuarial areas.

The internship targets undergraduates in actuarial science or related fields, with preferred progress on actuarial exams and a 3.0 GPA, graduating between Dec 2027 and May 2029. Work locations include Madison or Stevens Point, WI.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Mathematics, Statistics or related field preferred
• At least one actuarial exam completed is preferred
• Obtain a minimum in-major GPA of 3.0
• Expected graduation date December 2027 through May 2029
• Sentry does not offer employment to holders of F-1, J-1, and H-1 Visas for practical experience

Job description

In this internship, you'll gain hands-on experience and work with a mentor to learn all about the Actuarial role and network with leadership at social events.

This position will have the opportunity to intern in either our Madison or Stevens Point, WI office location.

What You'll Do

Actuary interns are given the opportunity to learn the basics of actuarial functions through exposure to a broad range of insurance products and actuarial methodologies in addition to participating in project work that takes place throughout the internship.

Our Actuary Internship offers opportunities to:

• Compile and categorize data
• Complete assignments which pertain to monitoring rate adequacy
• Manage corporate insurance risks
• Perform basic statistical analysis
• Evaluate loss and expense reserves
• Become familiar with company operations, systems, and actuarial methodologies

What it Takes

To be considered for this position, the following criteria are necessary:

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Mathematics, Statistics or related field preferred
• At least one actuarial exam complete is preferred
• Obtain a minimum in-major GPA of 3.0
• Expected graduation date of December 2027 through May 2029
• Sentry does not offer employment in this position to holders of F-1, J-1, and H-1 Visas for the purpose of obtaining practical experience
