Job summary

Sentry offers an Actuary Internship in Wisconsin for students to gain hands-on experience under a supervisor. You will learn how actuaries contribute to the company's success and network with leadership at social events.

You will work with a mentor on actuarial topics, compile data, analyze rates, manage risks, and explore company operations in a hybrid setting (home Mondays and Fridays; in-office Tue–Thu). Expected graduation Dec 2027–May 2029.

Qualifications

• Pursuing undergraduate degree in actuarial science or related field; preferred.
• At least one actuarial exam completed preferred.
• Minimum in-major GPA of 3.0.
• Expected graduation date December 2027 through May 2029.
• Sentry does not offer employment to holders of F-1, J-1, and H-1 visas for practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Compile and categorize data.
• Complete assignments related to monitoring rate adequacy.
• Manage corporate insurance risks.
• Perform basic statistical analysis.
• Evaluate loss and expense reserves.
• Become familiar with company operations, systems, and actuarial methodologies.

Education

Undergraduate degree in actuarial science / risk management / mathematics / statistics or related field

At least one actuarial exam completed

Minimum in-major GPA of 3.0

Job description

In this internship, you'll gain hands-on experience and work with a mentor to learn all about the Actuarial role and network with leadership at social events.

This position will have the opportunity to intern in either our Madison or Stevens Point, WI office location.

What You'll Do

Actuary interns are given the opportunity to learn the basics of actuarial functions through exposure to a broad range of insurance products and actuarial methodologies in addition to participating in project work that takes place throughout the internship.

Our Actuary Internship Offers Opportunities To

What It Takes

• Obtain a minimum in-major GPA of 3.0
• Expected graduation date of December 2027 through May 2029
• Sentry does not offer employment in this position to holders of F-1, J-1, and H-1 Visas for the purpose of obtaining practical experience
