Job summary

Manulife John Hancock offers an Actuarial Summer Internship Program in Boston, MA, with hybrid work expectations (in-office Tue–Thu, remote Mon–Fri). Interns will explore pricing, valuation, modeling, risk management, and experience analytics while gaining guidance from seasoned actuaries.

You'll participate in department projects, meetings, and events designed to build technical and business skills in a supportive learning environment. Expected May–August 2027.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
• Maintaining a strong GPA; coursework performance is considered.
• Effective communication with technical and non-technical teammates.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities with big-picture thinking.
• Self-motivated, able to work under tight deadlines.
• Familiarity with SOA qualification process is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assigned to an actuarial department (pricing, valuation, modeling, etc.) for the internship duration.
• Participate in team meetings to help set work priorities.
• Assist with process-improvement projects to increase departmental efficiency.
• Present results and recommendations to management and stakeholders.
• Attend events featuring speakers from various departments to grow business knowledge.
