Job summary

John Hancock’s Actuarial Summer Internship Program in Boston offers motivated students hands-on experience in pricing, valuation, and modeling. The role is hybrid, with in-office Tue–Thu and remote Mon/Fri, running May–August 2027.

You will receive mentorship, participate in engaging events, and gain exposure to the SOA qualification process while contributing to process-improvement projects and presenting findings to leadership.

Qualifications

Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related discipline.
Maintaining a strong GPA and relevant coursework.
Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical teammates.
Analytical, quantitative and problem-solving abilities with big-picture thinking.
Self-motivated, results-driven, able to work under tight deadlines.
Familiar with the SOA qualification process.

Responsibilities

Placed in actuarial departments (pricing, valuation, modeling) for the internship.
Participate in meetings with manager and team to set priorities.
Complete process-improvement projects to increase department efficiency.
Present results and recommendations to manager and stakeholders.
Attend events featuring speakers from various departments to broaden business knowledge.
