Job summary

BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina is seeking a Summer Actuarial Student Intern to work on-site in Columbia, SC, with opportunities in Fort Wayne, IN, or Roseville, MN. The 12-week program runs May 17–August 6, 2027, requiring 40 hours/week.

Interns will gain hands-on experience, participate in training, and support department projects under supervision. Applicants should be enrolled in a 4-year degree program, have at least 12 credits in the field, and ideally have started actuarial exams

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be currently enrolled in college in a 4-year degree program.
• Minimum 12 college credits in relevant field.
• Two years of academic study; rising junior or senior.
• Interest in actuarial career; completion of actuarial exam preferred.
• Experience with data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, R, SAS, or Power BI.

Responsibilities

• Assist with tasks across department; maintain documents, spreadsheets, and databases.
• Work under supervision on projects and learn departmental procedures.
• Participate in training and gain applicable knowledge and skills.
• Support other staff and learn business operations; may create or report area statistics.
