Job summary

The Hartford in Charlotte, NC is seeking an Actuary Associate (AS07AE) to join the Global Specialty US Actuarial pricing team focusing on Financial Lines for Private Company Management Liability. This role works with Underwriting, Finance, Claims and IT to shape pricing and profitability.

Responsibilities include rate development, price monitoring, loss ratio planning and semi-annual reserve studies. The position may support the Actuarial Student Program for eligible entrants.

Qualifications

• ACAS or near-ACAS preferred; candidates with actuarial experience not pursuing exams will be considered.
• Minimum of 4+ years of Property and Casualty Insurance Actuarial experience.
• Knowledge of pricing and reserving techniques.
• Strong technical and analytical skills; proficiency in Excel; experience with R/SQL preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication; ability to collaborate with multiple teams.
• Willingness to support hybrid work across Hartford, Chicago and Charlotte offices.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance and maintain actuarial pricing methodologies and tools.
• Identify critical pricing and profitability benchmarks.
• Analyze internal pricing results and competitor information.
• Develop and maintain price monitoring systems.
• Apply R/SQL skills to improve processes and modeling.
• Collaborate with Actuarial and cross-functional partners.
• Present analyses and recommendations to business partners.
