Job summary

Core Specialty Insurance invites motivated interns to join the Actuarial Reserving team for a 12-week summer program. You will gain real, meaningful work experience with guidance from actuaries and exposure to senior management in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Passed at least one actuarial exam strongly preferred.
• Basic Excel experience.
• Interest in insurance industry.

• Strong organization and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide Actuarial Pricing support for all lines of business.
• Support pricing of new program opportunities.
• In conjunction with the annual Planning process, develop premium and loss ratio projections.
• Complete and distribute monthly pricing reports.
• Support Insurance Department rate filings as needed.
• Develop new rating tools as requested and support migration of existing tools to new platforms.

Key Accountabilities/Deliverables:

• Provide Actuarial Pricing support for all lines of business
• Support pricing of new program opportunities
• In conjunction with the annual Planning process, develop premium and loss ratio projections

Technical Knowledge and Understanding:

• Passed at least one Actuarial Exam strongly preferred
• Basic Excel experience
• Interest in insurance industry
• Knowledge of actuarial exam process
• Strong organization and communication skills

Experience:

• Must be actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related field
• Demonstrate sufficient progress in understanding and applying basic actuarial principles is required
• Studying for CAS preliminary exams; may have 1-2 passed
• Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
