Job summary

Sammons Financial Group in West Des Moines, IA seeks an actuarial analytics assistant to provide technical support for internal and external customers. You'll develop and maintain calculation tools, gather data for analysis, and generate reports to address calculation issues.

You will work with spreadsheets, databases, and basic software to support actuarial processes, learn industry concepts, and contribute to special projects while collaborating with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Business or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 2-3 years' work experience in data analytics; life insurance/annuities preferred.
• Mathematical ability, strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with Visual Basic and macros desirable; proficiency in Excel, Access and Word.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop thorough understanding of actuarial concepts and requirements and ensure tools reflect needs.
• Maintain or enhance spreadsheet, software and database tools for data management and reporting.
• Gather and review data for reasonableness; generate reports and communicate results to stakeholders.
• Create and maintain calculation spreadsheets to validate actuarial values and support departments.
• Represent the department in meetings and communicate technical information clearly.
• Propose and automate processes to improve efficiency and accuracy; manage projects.
