Sammons Financial Group is seeking an Actuarial Associate at the Associate 2/3 level in the West Des Moines area. You will perform technical actuarial tasks, support modeling, data analytics, product development and financial reporting under guidance.

The role emphasizes collaboration and learning across products and regulatory requirements. The position requires a math-focused degree and 3–5 years of actuarial experience, with examinations in progress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mathematics or related field.
• 3-5 years in actuarial science.
• Strong mathematical ability and analytical skills.
• Experience with actuarial software and data tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop knowledge of Sammons Financial Group products and value propositions.
• Understand insurance contracts and actuarial regulations; assist with regulatory materials.
• Learn assumptions for actuarial calculations and document them.
• Create/alter simple financial models and document inputs/outputs.
• Assist in financial reporting and analyze balance sheets/income statements from models.
• Perform data analysis using spreadsheets and databases; present findings clearly.
• Assist with risk quantification and mitigation approaches.
• Collaborate on projects within teams and meet deadlines.
• Build cross-department relationships to support business needs.
