Job summary

The Standard in Portland, OR is seeking an Actuarial Developer to design, build, and operate software powering actuarial work. You’ll translate actuarial needs into automated solutions, primarily on Databricks with SQL, and collaborate across IT, data, finance and product teams.

You will lead adoption of AI-enabled development practices, improve delivery quality, and support production solutions while mentoring others in analysis tools and methods.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience developing analytical or business software solutions.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Databricks and SQL.
• Able to independently deliver well-defined projects and contribute to technical design activities.
• Demonstrates curiosity and willingness to leverage AI-enabled development tools to improve productivity, analysis, and solution delivery.

Responsibilities

• Develop Automated Business Solutions - Design, develop, and deploy analysis software for use by actuarial teams, primarily on Databricks, with SQL and other languages as needed.
• Financial and Actuarial Analysis - Build and support the software behind actuarial and financial analysis including pricing, forecasting, and risk management.
• Cross Collaboration - Partner with actuaries, finance, product, IT and data teams to align on standards, integration and delivery.
• Lead with AI - Use AI and generative-AI tools in development, testing and documentation with accountability and governance.
• Training and Knowledge Transfer - Share techniques and train others in analysis tools and methods.
• Operate Business Solutions - Own and refine automated processes for deployment to business users.
