Job summary

Regency Integrated Health Services is seeking an Activity Director at Windsor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Weslaco in Weslaco, TX. The role reports to the Administrator and focuses on organizing resident activities and community engagement.

The ideal candidate will manage both individual and group activities, document care plan components, and coordinate off-site events while maintaining accurate records and monthly calendars.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; alternative pathways listed below.
• Bachelor's degree with 1 year of relevant experience in elder care or human services is an option.
• 60 semester hours with 2 years of relevant experience also acceptable.
• Completed activities director course with 2 years of relevant experience is an option.

Responsibilities

• Organize individual and group activities based on residents' needs.
• Ensure multiple activities run for high and low functioning residents.
• Complete MDS section E timely and accurately.
• Develop activities components of Care Plan from activity assessments.
• Prepare annual activity assessments for each resident.
• Provide one-on-one activities for bedfast residents and document accordingly.
• Prepare monthly calendar and post visibly; share with residents and their rooms.
• Coordinate at least two off-site activities per month and participate in community events.
• Collaborate with Corporate Events/Activities Coordinator on events.
• Recruit, orient, and supervise the volunteer program.
• Attend QA meetings and complete Monthly QA reports.

Primary Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Organize both individual and group activities based on the needs of the residents
• Ensure that multiple activities are occurring for both high and low functioning residents
• Complete section E of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) timely and accurately
• Develop the activities component of the Comprehensive Care Plan from the completed activity assessment
• Complete an annual assessment for each resident on the activities component of the Resident Assessment
• Provide activities for residents that are bedfast and/or unable to participate in group activities (one to one) and documents in the appropriate record
• Prepare monthly calendar and post in an area that is accessible and highly visible and frequented by residents and visitors. Calendar should also be provided to each resident and posted in room
• Prepare the facility newsletter
• Coordinate a minimum of two off‑site activities per month
• Participate in community events related to the interest of the facility and arrange for use of community facilities
• Collaborates with Corporate Events/Activities Coordinator in organizing various employee and non‑employee events for the facility.
• Recruits, orients, and supervises the volunteer program of the facility
• Participate in facility QA meetings and complete Monthly QA reports

Qualifications - Educational/Training Requirements

• A. Except as provided in subparagraph (B) of this paragraph, an activities director must have graduated from a high school or have a certificate recognized by a state of the United States as the equivalent of a high-school diploma and have:
• B. • a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, and one year of full-time experience working with elderly people or people with disabilities in a human service or medically related program;
• C. • 60 semester hours from an accredited college or university, and two years of full-time experience working with elderly people or people with disabilities in a human service or medically related program; or
• D. • completed an activities director's course, and two years of full-time experience working with elderly people or people with disabilities in a human service or medically related program.
