Job summary

Responsibilities

• Prepare annual assessments for activity components and resident records.
• Provide bedfast or one-to-one activities and document accordingly.
• Prepare monthly calendars and accessible newsletters for residents.
• Coordinate at least two off-site activities per month; participate in community events.
• Collaborate with Corporate Events Coordinator on facility events; recruit and supervise volunteers.
• Participate in QA meetings and Monthly QA reports.

Job Shift: 8am - 5pm

Primary Responsibilities

The Activity Director will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing the resident’s activity program and the maintenance of necessary documentation.

Essential Functions

• Organize both individual and group activities based on the needs of the residents
• Ensure that multiple activities are occurring for both high and low functioning residents
• Complete section E of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) timely and accurately
• Develop the activities component of the Comprehensive Care Plan from the completed activity assessment
• Complete an annual assessment for each resident on the activities component of the Resident Assessment
• Provide activities for residents that are bedfast and/or unable to participate in group activities (one to one) and documents in the appropriate record
• Prepare monthly calendar and post in an area that is accessible and highly visible and frequented by residents and visitors. Calendar should also be provided to each resident and posted in room
• Prepare the facility newsletter
• Coordinate a minimum of two off-site activities per month
• Participate in community events related to the interest of the facility and arrange for use of community facilities
• Collaborates with Corporate Events/Activities Coordinator in organizing various employee and non-employee events for the facility.
• Recruits, orients, and supervises the volunteer program of the facility
• Participate in facility QA meetings and complete Monthly QA reports

Qualifications / Educational/Training Requirements

A. Except as provided in subparagraph (B) of this paragraph, an activities director must have graduated from a high school or have a certificate recognized by a state of the United States as the equivalent of a high‑school diploma and have:

• B. a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, and one year of full-time experience working with elderly people or people with disabilities in a human service or medically related program;
• C. 60 semester hours from an accredited college or university, and two years of full-time experience working with elderly people or people with disabilities in a human service or medically related program; or
• D. completed an activities director's course, and two years of full-time experience working with elderly people or people with disabilities in a human service or medically related program.
