Job summary

Meadowbrook in Wisconsin seeks an Activity Director to lead a dynamic activity program for residents. You will build relationships, tailor experiences to individual needs, and promote socialization, independence, creativity, and quality of life.

You will coordinate with nursing, therapy, social services, dietary, and other departments to support each resident’s plan of care, while supervising staff and volunteers.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with seniors in healthcare, senior living, long-term care, or recreational settings preferred.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Creative, positive, and energetic personality.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and oversee a meaningful activity program for residents.
  • Develop and maintain the monthly activity calendar.
  • Complete resident activity assessments and individualized care plans.
  • Coordinate group and one-on-one activities, outings, and events.
  • Train and supervise Activity Department staff; recruit volunteers and community resources.
  • Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Participate in care plan meetings and quality improvement activities.
  • Manage supplies and budget for the Activity Department.
  • Participate in Manager on Duty (MOD) rotations, including some evenings and weekends.

Are you creative, energetic, and passionate about making a difference in the lives of seniors? Meadowbrook is looking for an Activity Director to lead a fun, meaningful, and engaging activity program for our residents!

As our Activity Director, you will have the opportunity to build relationships with residents, learn what makes each person unique, and create activities and experiences that promote socialization, independence, creativity, and overall quality of life.

What You'll Do
  • Plan, organize, and oversee a fun and meaningful activity program based on the interests, abilities, and needs of our residents
  • Develop and maintain the monthly activity calendar
  • Complete resident activity assessments and individualized care plans
  • Coordinate group and one-on-one activities, outings, entertainment, special events, and holiday programs
  • Encourage resident participation while respecting each resident's preferences and right to choose
  • Build relationships with residents and families and help create a warm, welcoming environment
  • Coordinate with nursing, therapy, social services, dietary, and other departments to support each resident's overall plan of care
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise Activity Department staff
  • Coordinate volunteers, community organizations, entertainers, and other outside resources
  • Maintain required documentation and ensure the Activity Department remains compliant with applicable regulations
  • Participate in care plan meetings, department head meetings, committees, and quality improvement activities
  • Manage the Activity Department's supplies and budget
  • Participate in our Manager on Duty (MOD) program, including some evenings and weekends
Schedule

Primary schedule: Monday–Friday

This position will primarily work during regular weekday hours, with some evenings, weekends, and holidays required as part of our Manager on Duty (MOD) rotation. The MOD schedule is planned in advance so you can balance your work and personal life.

  • Experience working with seniors, preferably in a healthcare, senior living, long-term care, or recreational setting
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred

  • Ability to plan and manage multiple activities and priorities
  • Comfortable working with residents with varying physical and cognitive abilities
  • Compassionate, patient, and able to build genuine relationships with residents
  • Ability to work independently while also being an effective member of the leadership team
