Job summary

Laredo South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking an Activity Aide to assist the Activity Director in planning and directing the residents’ activity program. The role involves coordinating events, facilitating activities for residents of varying abilities, and helping with calendars and a facility newsletter.

The ideal candidate will have a preferred school diploma or equivalent and prior experience in activity or recreational services within long-term care.

Qualifications

• A school diploma or its equivalent is preferred.
• Experience in activity or recreational department in long-term care is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Activity Director in planning, coordinating, and directing the residents’ activity program.
• Collaborate with the Activity Director to organize employee and non-employee events for the facility.
• Facilitate individual and group activities based on residents’ needs.
• Ensure activities are available for high and low functioning residents.
• Assist with scheduling beauty parlor and barber activities.
• Provide activities for bedfast residents (one-to-one) and document appropriately.
• Assist with preparing monthly calendars and posting them accessibly.
• Help generate the facility newsletter.
• Participate in community events related to facility interests.
• Attend in-services as necessary.
• Assist residents to and from activities.
• Deliver resident mail daily.
• Other duties as assigned by the Activity Director or Administrator.

Primary ResponsibilitiesThe Activity Aide will be responsible for assisting the Activity Director in planning, coordinating, and directing the residents’ activity program.The Activity Aide collaborates with the Activity Director in organizing various employee and non-employee events for the facility.Essential FunctionsFacilitate both individual and group activities based on the individual needs of the residents.Ensure that activities are occurring for both high and low functioning residentsAssist with scheduling beauty parlor and barber activitiesProvide activities for residents that are bedfast and/or unable to participate in group activities (one to one) and document in the appropriate recordAssist with the preparation of monthly calendar and posting in an area accessible, highly visible and frequented by residents and visitors.
