Job summary

Alliance Health Group in North Carolina seeks an Activities Director to design and oversee a comprehensive activity program addressing physical, cognitive, social and spiritual needs of residents. The role requires flexibility with evenings and weekends and strong collaboration with staff.

The ideal candidate holds a degree in related field and a valid North Carolina driver’s license, and has experience in activity programming with seniors.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Activities Development, Recreational Therapy, Elder Care or Social Work.
  • Has completed the DSS-required 48 hour Activities Training course.
  • Prefer one year of activity programming experience with agencies responsible for seniors.
  • Demonstrates an interest in working with a senior population.
  • Maintains a current driver’s license in North Carolina and have a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, organize, and implement a program of activities to meet residents' social, emotional and physical needs.
  • Initiate and promote activities inside and outside the facility, ensuring safety and wellbeing.
  • Coordinate and verify assistance for activities and events as necessary.
  • Provide in-room activities for residents unable to attend daily events.
  • Create and maintain an engaging calendar of activities accessible to all residents.
  • Maintain scheduling and documentation in line with policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Solicit involvement from community groups, clubs, and organizations in planning events.

What you will do:

TheActivities Director is responsible for the development and implementation of a stimulating activity program encompassing physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual activities. Programs will address needs of all elderly from active to those in declining physical abilities. The Activities Director must present self in a professional manner, display genuine concern for elderly and act maturely in dealing with others. The programming must also include a wide variety of ages and meet the needs of our diverse population. Must be able to be flexible with working hours to accommodate evening and weekend activities. Must be able use Microsoft products to include: Word, and Outlook.

  • Develop, organize, and implement a program of activities to meet the social, emotional, physical and other therapeutic needs of residents as identified on the residents’ plan of care and within the specified budget.
  • Initiate and promote activities both within the facility and outside the facility, as weather permits, insuring the safety and well being of each resident at all times.
  • Coordinate and verify that assistance is provided to residents for activities and events as necessary.
  • Provide in room activities for residents who are unable to attend daily events.
  • Create an ongoing calendar of activities, which creatively meets multiple needs and is accessible and appealing to both men and women of all ages and abilities.
  • Consistently maintain standards for activity scheduling and documentation established by policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Solicit the involvement of the community (clubs, groups, organizations, agencies, churches, individuals, etc.) when planning facility activities and events.
What you need:
  • Degree in Activities Development, Recreational Therapy, Elder Care or Social Work.
  • Has completed the DSS-required 48 hour Activities Training course
  • Prefer one year of activity programming experience with agencies responsible for seniors.
  • Demonstrates an interest in working with a senior population.
  • Demonstrates a warm, friendly and outgoing personality.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, such as during evenings and weekends, for planned activities and events.
  • Maintains a current driver’s license in North Carolina and have a clean driving record.
