Job summary

StoneRidge in Mystic, CT is seeking a part-time Recreation Therapist/Program Assistant to plan and implement calendar activities tailored to residents’ physical, social, cognitive, emotional, and spiritual needs.

You will foster daily 1:1 visits, maintain attendance records, and support program delivery while coordinating with the Director of Therapeutic Recreation. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and a passion for senior care.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with seniors or in health care preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Excellent oral and written communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Creativity, enthusiasm, and the ability to anticipate resident needs are qualities for success in this position.

Responsibilities

• Planning, coordinating and implementing calendar activities based on the resident population interests. These activities will be designed to meet their physical, social, cognitive, emotional, and spiritual needs.
• Responsible for creating opportunities for daily 1:1 visits with all residents to invite and inform of activities, conversation, support, etc.
• Maintain accurate daily documentation of the resident’s attendance and participation level
• Distribute and post material regarding events, programs, activities, etc.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and inviting recreation space for residents, families, and staff
• Communicate with Director of Therapeutic Recreation for supply, program, and resident need
• Provide appropriate therapeutic recreation interventions for residents
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Therapeutic Recreation

Schedule: Part-time, 6-hours/week; every Sunday (10am-4pm)

Pay: $17.50-20.00/hour (depending on education/licensure level and employment experience)
