Citizens Care & Rehabilitation Center in Frederick, MD is seeking an Activities Assistant to lead and support recreation for residents, enhancing their mental, physical, spiritual and social wellbeing.

You will plan and implement activities, collaborate with nursing staff, transport residents to programs, and document assessments and care plans; a high school diploma and experience in a recreation setting are preferred, with opportunities to grow within a compassionate team.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • One year experience in a recreation setting preferred.

Responsabilités

  • Develop and implement activities within the facility.
  • Motivate residents to participate daily.
  • Plan individual community calendars.
  • Complete assessments and maintain written records.
  • Write individualized care plans and follow them.
  • Transport residents to and from programs.
  • Communicate with nursing staff about participants.
  • Attend In-Service training to maintain competencies.
  • Communicate effectively in English.

Citizens Care & Rehabilitation Center is seeking an Activities Assistant to join our team in providing active and passive, group and individual activities that enhance the mental, physical, spiritual and social needs of our residents.

Responsibilities/Duties
  • Assists in the development and implementation of activities within the facility

  • Must be able to create interest in the activities and motivate residents to participate daily

  • Must possess the ability to exercise good judgement and make confident ethical decisions

  • Must be able to effectively manage time in order to complete multiple tasks

  • Assists in planning individual community calendars

  • Completes proper assessments and other resident forms; maintains other written records

  • Writes an individualized care plans for the residents

  • Follows the care plan to implement the resident's social and recreational programs.

  • Assists residents and guests by transporting them to and from programs.

  • Communicates with nursing staff the residents and guests participating in functions for the purpose of assistance in transporting.

  • Attends In-Service training to maintain and improve competencies.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) in English

  • Reports to the Director of Activities

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:
  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent is required.

  • One year experience in a recreation setting is preferred

  • Promotes positive image of our facility to residents, guests, families and the community.

  • Protects the privacy of residents, guests and employees.

  • Must have a basic understanding and empathetic approach to the needs of the resident population

  • Must have willingness, patience and an aptitude for working with people.

  • Exhibits imagination, creativity and "thinking outside the box".

  • Exhibits dependability and punctuality when working as scheduled.

  • Requires excellent verbal and written communications skills, and a professional demeanor.

  • Projects good judgment and performs all duties satisfactorily while prioritizing projects as assigned.

  • Exhibits a spirit of cooperation and has a pleasant, friendly personality.

  • Exhibits excellent customer service skills and attention to detail.

Physical and Environmental Requirements
  • Must be able to stand, sit, stoop, push, pull, balance, reach, grasp, kneel, climb and lift up to 50 pounds.

  • The Activities Assistant must meet the physical requirements of the position which include transporting residents in wheelchairs to/from programs as well as on long walks. The Activities Assistant also runs light fitness programs while seated.

  • We seek an individual who has compassion for the elderly and is dependable.

  • This is an excellent opportunity for an energetic person; whether retired or young and has exceptional customer service experience and empathy.

Experience
  • Geriatric: 1 year (Preferred)

  • Dementia Experience is a plus
