Job summary

Christian Care Communities in Hopkinsville, KY seeks an Activities Assistant to support residents’ physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing through engaging programs on our 40-acre campus. You will plan, schedule and supervise activities, coordinate with the Activity Director and Chaplain, and help residents participate in events and outings while ensuring compliance with regulations.

Preferred: Associate’s degree and 1 year in a social or recreational program; certification as CNA preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree from a 2-year college or technical program.
• 1 year related experience.
• 2 years’ experience in a social or recreational program setting, at least one in a resident activity program in a health care setting.
• Certified Nurse Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, scheduling, conducting and supervising activities for residents.
• Assist the Activity Director in planning related to the Facility and residents’ needs.
• Encourage residents’ religious participation and coordinate with Chaplain.
• Arrange transportation to outside events/activities when necessary.
• Assist in planning activities for room-bound residents (writing letters, running errands, etc.).
• Encourage resident participation in activities when practical.
• Understand the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) and related components.
• Ensure appropriate charting documentation of activity forms and assessments.
• Provide outstanding customer service to co-workers, clients and vendors.

The Activities Assistant is responsible for providing services that meet the interests and the physical, mental,

and psycho-social wellbeing of each resident to promote and maintain the residents’ sense of usefulness to self and others while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws, regulatory and organizational standards.

• 1. Assists in planning, scheduling, conducting and supervising activities/events for residents which provide entertainment, intercommunication, exercises, relaxation, intellectual development, and utilization of their talents
• 2. Assists the Activity Director in the community the planning related to the interests of the Facility and the services and needs of the residents and families
• 3. Encourages residents’ religious participation, coordinates with Chaplain, and provides spiritual material to residents at their request
• 4. Arranges transportation to outside events/activities when necessary
• 5. Assists in planning and performing activities for room-bound residents including writing letters, running errands, reading, and securing material for residents with sensory and hearing deficiencies
• 6. Encourages resident participation in activities when practical
• 7. Responsible for the understanding of the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) which consists of three basic components: the Minimum Data Set (MDS) Version 3.0, the Care Area Assessment (CAA) process, and the RAI Utilization Guidelines
• 8. Assures appropriate charting documentation of activity related forms and assessments
• 9. Personifies outstanding customer service to co-workers, clients and vendors by acting as a subject matter resource in a timely, considerate and friendly

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Preferred Education: Associate’s degree from a 2-year college or technical
• Required Experience: 1 year related experience
• Preferred Experience: 2 years’ experience in a social or recreational program
• setting, at least one of which was in a /resident
• activity program in a health care setting
• Preferred Certification or Licensures: Certified Nurse Aid
