Job summary

Hopewell Grove Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Chillicothe, OH, is seeking an Activity Assistant to join our team and help create a vibrant, fun environment for residents.

You will support the Activity Director in planning, organizing and leading engaging recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities, promoting social interaction, movement and mental stimulation in a safe, compassionate setting.

Qualifications

• Previous experience with older adults in health care or long-term care preferred but not required.
• Strong interest in recreational programming to enhance residents' lives.
• Ability to lead and engage groups in fun, stimulating activities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with residents and families.
• Compassionate, resident-focused attitude and commitment to making a difference.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing engaging activities for residents.
• Lead or co-lead individual and group activities (arts/crafts, music, games, exercises, social events).
• Provide one-on-one engagement to ensure resident participation.
• Create and maintain individualized activity plans based on interests and needs.
• Ensure activities are safe and follow infection control procedures.
• Monitor residents during activities and provide support.
• Encourage physical and cognitive activity for well-being.
• Document participation and report resident interests to the Activity Director.
• Assist in planning special events, celebrations, and outings.
• Foster a positive, energetic atmosphere to promote participation.

Position Overview:

As an Activity Assistant at {Facility Location} Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, you will assist the Activity Director in planning, organizing, and leading a variety of engaging activities for our residents. You will play a key role in ensuring residents enjoy a rich, meaningful daily routine, promoting social interaction, physical movement, and mental stimulation in a safe and supportive environment.
