The Activities Assistant is responsible for providing services that meet the interests and the physical, mental,
and psycho-social wellbeing of each resident to promote and maintain the residents' sense of usefulness to self
and others while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws, regulatory and organizational standards.
Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday 10:30am-7:00pm
- Assists in planning, scheduling, conducting and supervising activities/events for residents which provide entertainment, intercommunication, exercises, relaxation, intellectual development, and utilization of their talents
- Assists the Activity Director in the community the planning related to the interests of the Facility and the services and needs of the residents and families
- Encourages residents' religious participation, coordinates with Chaplain, and provides spiritual material to residents at their request
- Arranges transportation to outside events/activities when necessary
- Assists in planning and performing activities for room-bound residents including writing letters, running errands, reading, and securing material for residents with sensory and hearing deficiencies
- Encourages resident participation in activities when practical
- Responsible for the understanding of the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) which consists of three basic components: the Minimum Data Set (MDS) Version 3.0, the Care Area Assessment (CAA) process, and the RAI Utilization Guidelines
- Assures appropriate charting documentation of activity related forms and assessments
- Personifies outstanding customer service to co-workers, clients and vendors by acting as a subject matter resource in a timely, considerate and friendly
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Preferred Education: Associate's degree from a 2-year college or technical
- Required Experience: 1 year related experience
- Preferred Experience: 2 years' experience in a social or recreational program
- setting, at least one of which was in a /resident
- activity program in a health care setting
- Preferred Certification or Licensures: Certified Nurse Aid
