Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare seeks an ACPE Certified Educator to lead Clinical Pastoral Education programs and provide pastoral care across clinical areas. You will develop curriculum, supervise students, and ensure quality educational experiences in coordination with other pastoral care providers.

The role involves on-call coverage, collaboration with the Pastoral Care Department, and active participation in institutional committees and community outreach.

Qualifications

• ACPE Certified Educator status required and in good standing.
• A college degree is required.
• A master’s level theological degree or equivalent.
• Several years of clinical training in chaplaincy and supervision.
• Ordination or commissioning for ministry by a recognized religious group.
• Current endorsement for chaplaincy by a recognized religious group.
• Appearance before a national certifying commission for competency assessment.
• Board Certified Chaplain by one of the listed organizations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conducts programs of CPE training according to ACPE standards.
• Participates in planning and administration of the training program, including accreditation.
• Designs curriculum for student-centered learning.
• Conducts admissions interviews and handles admission decisions/materials.
• Evaluates students’ personal and professional functioning and writes evaluative reports.
• Oversees in-service education related to pastoral care for staff development.
• Collaborates with the Director of Pastoral Care to provide coverage & programs.
• Maintains Bible records and reports within the department; coordinates with entities.
• Contributes to ongoing quality improvement and community outreach.

Education

ACPE Certified Educator / Associate Certified Educator

College degree

Master’s level theological degree or equivalent

Clinical chaplaincy training & supervision

Ordination or commissioning for ministry

Endorsement for chaplaincy

National certifying commission assessment

Board Certified Chaplain (APC/NACC/NAJC)
