Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare seeks an ACPE Certified Educator to lead Clinical Pastoral Education programs across clinical areas. The role involves training, curriculum design, student supervision, and evaluating educational experiences in coordination with the Pastoral Care Department.

The educator will provide on-call pastoral care, participate in committee work, and collaborate with clergy to enhance spiritual services across Mary Washington Healthcare.

Qualifications

• ACPE Certified Educator or Associate Certified Educator required.
• College degree and a master level theological degree or equivalent.
• Several years of clinical training in chaplaincy and chaplaincy supervision.
• Ordination or commissioning for ministry by a recognized religious group.
• Current endorsement for chaplaincy by a recognized religious group.
• Board Certified Chaplain preferred by one of the major chaplain associations.
• Appearance before a national certifying commission for assessment of competency.

Responsibilities

• Conducts CPE training programs according to ACPE standards.
• Designs curriculum for student-centered learning and evaluates educational experiences.
• Manages admissions interviews and handles application materials for students.
• Oversees student work, writes evaluative reports, and completes ACPE registration where required.
• Provides in-service education and collaborates with pastoral care leadership.
• Coordinates with institutional staff to assess spiritual needs and provide care.
• Provides on-call pastoral coverage and participates in council rounds and institutional committees.
