Job summary

ThedaCare is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist to submit accurate billing, follow up on claims, and resolve denials. The role requires strong communication skills and experience with payer interactions, ensuring compliance with regulations and timely reimbursements.

Work arrangement includes remote, hybrid or in-office options at ThedaCare Corporate Office in Neenah, WI. The ideal candidate has 1 year in revenue cycle billing and proficiency with Excel.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in Revenue Cycle/Medical billing, follow up and collections or related healthcare management degree/certification.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Reviews, analyzes, and processes billed claims for accuracy upon submission, including charges, subscriber data, diagnosis and procedure codes, late charges, and supporting documentation.
• Submits claims in a timely manner in accordance with payer contracts, federal and state regulations, departmental standards, and form requirements.
• Follows up with commercial, governmental, and other payers to resolve unpaid, underpaid, denied, or rejected claims.
• Identifies reasons for denials, underpayments, and payment delays; takes corrective action to secure reimbursement.
• Prepares, drafts, and submits technical and clinical appeals as needed with complete documentation.
• Re-bills accounts when updated demographics or third-party info is received and updates patient records accordingly.
• Verifies insurance, payer, and patient demographics at registration and during follow-up; enters verification data into billing systems.
• Maintains documentation of all account activity and payer contacts in the host system.
• Maintains knowledge of payer requirements, contracts, and regulatory standards; applies them to account resolution.
• Identifies trends in AR issues and communicates findings to management.
• Demonstrates initiative and problem-solving to determine appropriate collection strategies.
• Meets productivity and quality standards.
