Job summary

Aston Carter in Knoxville, TN is seeking an Accountant — Accounts Receivable to support reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close. This contract-to-hire role is onsite in Knoxville, TN, offering hands-on exposure to AR, GL, and GAAP compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 1+ year of accounting experience preferred, ideally with AR and GL exposure.
• Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
• Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles.
• Intermediate Excel skills, including pivot tables.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile cash, AR, chargeback, bank, and general ledger accounts.
• Research and resolve account discrepancies and outstanding items.
• Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close.
• Process and review settlements and related payments.
• Maintain accurate records in compliance with GAAP and SOX requirements.
• Assist with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Partner with internal teams to resolve billing and receivable issues.
• Support process improvements and ensure deadlines are met.
