Job description

Vaco Los Angeles is seeking an experienced AR and Cash Application Specialist to join our client's accounting team. A basic understanding of accounting, accounts receivables procedures, payment processing, and a positive attitude are essential. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn and grow. This role offers up to $34/hr and is on-site in Torrance, CA.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Make outbound calls to delinquent customer accounts to support collection efforts.
2. Assist the collection and cash application teams with escalations and guidance.
3. Collaborate cross-functionally within the organization to resolve issues.
4. Review accounts for research and reconciliation, and recommend actions.
5. Perform collection activities as a member of the collection team.
6. Provide coaching to the collection team.
7. Review requests for accuracy and completeness, including credit memos, refunds, and payment adjustments.
8. Establish and review collection metrics daily to prioritize tasks.
9. Report issues affecting team productivity and performance to AR management.
10. Assign tasks to team members to ensure workload balance during absences.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Associate degree in Accounting/Finance (preferred).
2. Understanding of basic accounting principles such as AR, AP, invoicing, credits, debits, chargebacks, and credit terms.
3. Experience in AR and collections implementation.
4. Strong organizational skills.
5. Excellent communication skills.
6. Experience using ERP applications.
