Job summary

Southwest Mobile Storage, Inc. is seeking an Accounts Receivable Clerk I to join our Phoenix team. You will manage customer accounts, process invoices and payments, and support collections while delivering exceptional service.

The role emphasizes accuracy, communication, and collaboration with the collections team. The ideal candidate has 2+ years in AR or related fields, intermediate Excel skills, and experience with billing, reconciliations, and portals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; accounting or bookkeeping education preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in accounts receivable, customer service, or related field.
• Basic accounting, bookkeeping, and collections knowledge.
• Experience with billing, account reconciliations, disputes, and financial reporting.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Office Suite, portals, Dynamics or similar software.
• Strong customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to multitask, stay organized, and perform in a fast-paced environment.
• Reliable attendance and high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Handle inbound customer calls with prompt and courteous assistance.
• Promote Customer Portal usage for billing among customers with multiple units.
• Encourage paperless billing to support green initiatives.
• Process recurring transactions and virtual card payments accurately.
• Create special, custom, or summary invoices for non-standard billing needs.
• Mail, email, and file lien waivers as needed.
• Upload invoices to customer portals for easy access.
• Manage Payments, Billing, and Credit Card Request emails for timely processing.
• Email weekly receipts and monthly statements to customers.
• Perform account updates and reconciliation to keep records current.
• Collaborate with collections to ensure prompt past-due collections.
• Negotiate payment arrangements and schedule follow-ups with delinquent accounts.
• Address disputes promptly and professionally; maintain confidentiality.
