Job summary

Steve Madden Ltd. in Long Island City, New York, is seeking an Accounts Receivable Associate to manage open AR and investigate chargebacks for the Wholesale business. This on-site role supports the LIC office and requires strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities include month closing, aging review, inquiries, credits, unapplied payments, cross-department collaboration, and special projects. A 2-year AR background, wholesale experience, and MS Office proficiency are preferred.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent experience.
• College degree in Accounting is a plus.
• Minimum of 2 years Accounts Receivable experience.
• Prior Wholesale experience.
• 1-2 years collection/charge back experience.
• AS400 experience is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

• Assist in month closing by ensuring all appropriate information is entered into computer and reviewing/updating aging report for discrepancies and finance charges.
• Research and respond to all accounts receivable inquiries in a prompt manner.
• Process credit memos.
• Research credit applications, notify customers of approval/status; document pertinent credit information.
• Daily research of unapplied and unidentified payments.
• Respond to customer inquiries and work with inter-departments to obtain necessary documents for credits/bills.
• Assist Department Manager/Director on special projects.
• Monthly/Quarterly reporting on past due invoices and credits.
• Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines with support and resources as needed.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

General Summary

The Accounts Receivable Associate is responsible for the collection of the open AR and researching chargebacks daily. This position supports the Wholesale business. This position is based in our LIC office and requires working on-site.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in month closing by ensuring all appropriate information is entered into computer, and reviewing and updating current aging report for discrepancies and finance charges

Research and respond to all accounts receivable inquiries in a prompt manner;

Process credit memo

Research credit applications, when appropriate, notify customers of approval/disapproval status; document pertinent credit information in accordance with company procedures;

Required Qualifications

HS Diploma or equivalent experience

College Degree in Accounting is a plus

Minimum of 2 years Accounts Receivable experience

Prior Wholesale experience

1-2 years collection / charge back experience

AS400 experience is a plus

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $24.00 - $26.45/hr. Ranges are based on various factors such as relevant skillset, training, years of experience related to the current job description, education, and our organizational structure.
