Job summary

Genuine Parts Company (GPC) North America Global Business Services seeks an Accounts Payable Specialist to support daily accounting operations, focusing on accounts payable, reconciliations, vendor payments, and billing discrepancies. This role maintains accurate financial records and supporting documentation for audit and management reporting.

Primarily office-based with standard hours; eligible to work remotely from home on Fridays, subject to business needs and policy.

Qualifications

• Education/Experience: High School Diploma with 1–2 years related experience and/or training.
• Language Ability: read, analyze and interpret common accounting procedures; excellent phone and verbal communication.
• Reasoning Ability: solve practical problems; interpret written or schedule form instructions.
• Computer Skills: strong data entry skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Compile, update and distribute financial reports for assigned locations; includes vendor statement reconciliation summaries.
• Organize, file and maintain accounting files.
• Verify accuracy of billing data and resolve document discrepancies (e.g., out of balance quantities, unreconciled variances).
• Obtain invoice approvals following internal processes.
• Respond to inquiries and provide customer service to suppliers and location personnel.
• Review, reconcile and research supplier statements for assigned locations; secure missing statements.
• Data entry into various systems for inventory and freight.
• Housekeeping of work area and date entry for processing invoices.
• Date entry into Excel for processing Direct Directs, Credits and NUC.
• Create sales orders and purchase orders for associate stores.
• Match jobber invoices with vendor invoices; scan and email files to Regions.
• Code, enter and scan AP invoices for all regions (Directs, TW, ME, MI, CA).
• Organize and verify Traction Pcard transactions and reconcile to BOA statement.
• Retrieve Traction Accounting emails and distribute accordingly.
• Process check requests for NAPA stores and Credit Union payments.
• Sort and distribute mail.
• Other duties as assigned.
